Tata Motors is gearing up to expand its SUV lineup with the highly anticipated launch of the Curvv on August 7, 2024. Positioned as India’s first coupe SUV, the Curvv aims to disrupt the competitive compact SUV segment with its stylish design and advanced features. The company will unveil both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric (EV) variants on the same day.
Drawing inspiration from its recently facelifted siblings, the Nexon, Harrier, and Safari, the Curvv boasts a contemporary look with connected LED DRLs, sleek headlights, and a distinctive coupe-like roofline. Flush-mounted door handles and connected LED taillights add a touch of sophistication.
Tata Motors has been teasing the Curvv on social media, showcasing both the electric and internal combustion engine (ICE) variants tackling challenging terrains like the Thar Desert and the Himalayas. The ICE version will share its powertrain with the Nexon, featuring a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine producing 115 PS and 260 Nm of torque. This engine will be available at launch. A more powerful 1.2-liter, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine generating 125 PS and 225 Nm will join the lineup at a later date.
While Tata Motors has yet to fully unveil the Curvv’s interior, leaked images and teasers suggest a design influenced by the Tata Nexon and Harrier. Expect features such as a sunroof, paddle shifters, ventilated front seats, a large touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, an advanced ADAS suite, multiple drive modes, and potentially a four-spoke steering wheel with a glowing Tata logo.
Once launched, it will compete with established players like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Grand Vitara in the compact SUV segment. Pricing is expected to start around Rs 10.50 lakh for the ICE version and Rs 19 lakh for the EV variant (ex-showroom).
