Shadow of Mordor executive producer seeks help in cancer battle
Experienced developer Michael Forgey has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and his friends and family are calling on peers and fans of his games to help.
Forgey was diagnosed earlier this year with glioblastoma, and while he has received various types of treatment, he is now seeking additional therapies.
He is currently executive producer at Monolith Productions, having worked on last year’s surprise hit Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, as well as countless other titles.
A YouCaring page has been established to receive donations, with a goal of $300,000. The appeal has already raised more than $42,000.
“If you worked with Mike on Shadow of Mordor, Gears of War I and II, Fable, Media Center, Zune, Conker, or Perfect Dark Zero you have experienced his positive energy, passion, and unfailing support,” the page’s organiser writes. “Mike has always been the first to volunteer, getting in earliest in the day and the last to leave at night. You know that he’s always been there when you needed him. Now Mike needs you.
“Mike and April have three beautiful children, each amazing in their own way, smart, talented, and compassionate. Mike needs to know that his family will be ok, and that you stand beside him in this fight. Your donation will help cover the medical expenses and securing the future for Mike’s children.”
