Armenia registered the highest unemployment rate among the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) in the first quarter of 2024, the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) reported on Friday. Based on the International Labour Organization's methodology, the unemployment rate in the EAEU was 3.2% of the labor force, with Armenia's rate at 15.5%./pp
In comparison, the unemployment rates for other EEU member countries were significantly lower: Belarus at 3.3%, Kazakhstan at 4.7%, Kyrgyzstan at 4.9% (2022 data), and Russia at 2.8%./pp
Overall, the number of unemployed individuals registered with employment services in EEU countries totaled 813,800 by the end of May 2024, marking a 13.8% decrease compared to the same period in 2023./p br
