The management of Sunshine Stars of Akure respond to claims the club wants to a foreign coach following the exit of Kennedy Boboye.
An official of the club told Goal.com that reports of the Owena Babes chasing a foreign are false while insisting that Nigerian coaches are in the process of being interviewed for the vacant job.
The official said: “Sunshine Stars have not told anybody that the club will be going for an expatriate to handle the team and we are not even thinking towards that direction.”

He continued: “As far as we are concerned, we had a good season and were just unlucky not to have secured a place in any of the Caf club competitions. Right now, we are still reviewing our outing for last season and will surely map out strategies to do well next season.
“For the coach, he is certainly going to be a Nigerian. We have qualified coaches in the country, so why are we going for an expatriate who is interested in fat pays?
“Very soon, we will screen the names we have on ground and anytime soon, we shall name a capable replacement for coach Boboye.”
Sunshine Stars finished in sixth place on the final standings despite their blistering start to the season. The Akure Gunners had been in sparkling form all season but gave up to pressure when it mattered most.
