The Ministrer of Foreign Affairs of Georgia was in Belgrade, where the 2015 OSCE Ministerial was held. Giorgi Kvirikashvili delivered a speech at the plenary session on the Global Security issues.
Kvirikashvili focused on violation by Russia of European security and the basic principles of international law. He also touched upon Georgia"s Euro-Atlantic aspirations and the 2016 parliamentary elections.
Giorgi Kvirikashvili provided the audience with information about the situation in the occupied territories.
"People were deprived of their civil, social and economic rights, including freedom of movement and property rights. They are not able to learn the Georgian language in Gali district. In 11 of the school, the Georgian language was replaced by Russian. The situation is especially difficult for international monitoring for the lack of a mechanism in the occupied territories. We would like to reaffirm that the crisis in Georgia should be resolved peacefully preserving the country"s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Georgia remains committed to the peaceful settlement of the conflict and finding ways to normalize relations with Russia. We will continue to participate in Geneva international discussions, "- said Giorgi Kvirikashvili.
