Cops nab two with dagga worth R600 000
A man and a woman have been arrested for allegedly transporting 125 kilograms of dagga from KZN to Kimberley.
|||Cape Town - Two suspects were arrested in Kimberley on Thursday after being caught with more than R600 000 worth of dagga, police said.
“Kimberley police are investigating a case of dealing in dagga after two persons were arrested on the N8 Road approximately five kilometres outside Kimberley,” said Northern Cape police spokesperson Sergio Kock.
At about 1am on Thursday, the two arresting officers, sergeants Itumeleng Moremi and Orapeleng Mosala, were conducting their patrol when they spotted a “suspicious looking Toyota Conquest”.
Moremi and Mosala stopped the vehicle and upon searching, found 10 bags of dagga inside.
The occupants of the vehicle, a 43-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman were arrested. It is alleged that the suspects were travelling from KwaZulu-Natal, bringing the dagga into Kimberley.
The dagga, worth R625 000 and weighing 125 kilograms, as well as the vehicle were seized by the police.
The suspects were expected to appear in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court soon.
