The Tata Altroz Racer has cemented its reputation for performance by achieving the coveted title of “Fastest Indian Hatchback.” This official recognition comes courtesy of the India Book of Records, validating the car’s impressive capabilities on the track.
The Altroz Racer, piloted by India’s legendary F1 racer Narain Karthikeyan, conquered the CoASTT Racing Track in Coimbatore with a blazing lap time of 2:21:74. This feat surpasses its rivals, including the Hyundai i20 N Line and Maruti Suzuki Fronx Turbo, solidifying its position as the undisputed speed king among Indian hatchbacks.
The Altroz Racer’s journey to becoming the fastest isn’t just about a single lap. Tata Motors has meticulously fine-tuned the car’s suspension, achieving the perfect balance between sporty handling on the racetrack and comfortable everyday drivability for regular roads. A new hydraulic clutch pedal further enhances the driving experience, offering effortless control during both spirited sprints and city commutes.
The Altroz Racer’s power comes from a proven 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine borrowed from the Tata Nexon. This engine delivers a robust 118 bhp and 170 Nm of torque, channeled through a precise 6-speed manual gearbox.
The Altroz Racer caters to a range of preferences with three distinct variants: R1, R2, and R3. Starting at an attractive ex-showroom price of ₹ 9.49 lakh, the car is available in three vibrant colors: Pure Grey, Atomic Orange, and Avenue White. The R2 and R3 variants offer additional features at a premium of ₹ 1 lakh and ₹ 1.5 lakh respectively over the base R1 model.
