ArmInfo. If Russia asks for help, the CSTO allies will not stand aside. This was stated in an interview with TASS by the Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Imangali Tasmagambetov, commenting on the terrorist attack in Dagestan and the likelihood of the Russian Federation turning to its allies in the Organization for help.
"The Secretariat of the Collective Security Treaty Organization
received the news of the tragic events in Makhachkala and Derbent
with a feeling of deep pain. We strongly condemn the actions of
terrorists and any attempts to incite inter-religious hatred. There
is no justification for such crimes," the CSTO Secretary General
noted.
At the same time, he admitted that such events can significantly
destabilize the situation at the regional level, especially given the
network nature of the organization of such extremist and terrorist
groups. Tasmagambetov called for waiting for the results of the
investigation into this crime, expressing confidence that the
investigation will clarify a lot. According to him, and on the basis
of this, the political leadership will determine the directions of
its foreign policy efforts to mitigate possible consequences.
Speaking about the possible appeal of the Russian Federation to the
CSTO, Tasmagambetov noted: "Currently, the Secretariat has not
received any requests for help from the Russian Federation. Russia
has its own potential and experience to successfully resolve such
problems. The potential for bilateral interdepartmental interaction
is also significant. However, I I am confident that if Russia asks
for help, the allies will not stand aside."
