There are schemes and then there are players. Atlanta adopted the former from Seattle when it hired then-Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn as its head coach before this season.
The Vikings just played and beat Atlanta, 20-10, in Atlanta. Sunday, they face the Seahawks at TCF Bank Stadium. So the Vikings’ offense is in its second straight week of preparations for basically the same defensive schemes.
But there is a big but, Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater said earlier today.
“They’re similar in schemes, but this Seattle team is much more talented, we feel,” Bridgewater said. “They have guys who have been playing together since last year, the Super Bowl. Eight returning starters. We’re aware of those things. We know that they execute a little better than Atlanta did. It just shows they’re more comfortable running that scheme.”
Bridgewater also was asked how well he knows Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon, who once played for the Vikings and is now the Seahawks’ radio analyst.
“I know I got to meet him this past offseason at the Kentucky Derby,” Bridgewater said. “He’s a great guy, dresses nice, cleans up well.
“I’m familiar with everything about Warren Moon. I’ve heard so much about him. It was an honor to meet him back in the offseason.”
