Alexander Logunov was supposed to serve 11 years for murdering his wife, Yelena, and producing pornography. The verdict was declared in November 2023, and several months later, in April, the man signed a military contract and headed to the war zone.
Yelena, a mother of two, went missing in 2021. Her husband, Alexander, claimed she had gone shopping without her mobile phone and disappeared. He informed his mother-in-law and the police of Yelena’s 'disappearance' just two hours after her departure, raising suspicions among law enforcement.
One year later, the police discovered Yelena's body. She was found wearing pajamas, wrapped in plastic. According to investigators, Logunov strangled her and buried the body. Shortly before the tragedy, Yelena gave her mother a casket with jewelry and credit cards without any explanations.
In 2023, Vladislav Kanyus, who had murdered his 23-year-old girlfriend Vera Pekhteleva, also went to war. He beat the girl for two hours, then raped her and strangled Vera with an iron cord. Pekhteleva’s neighbors called the police, but they never arrived. Several policemen were later given suspended sentences for negligence.
The prosecutor’s office deemed Kanyus’s release legitimate, and Vladimir Putin pardoned him.
