ArmInfo.Former chairman of the RA Urban Development Committee Vahagn Vermishyan, arrested in February 2020, will be released from custody, lawyer Alexander Kochubaev reported on social networks.
"Today, after 4 years and 1 month, (former) head of the Urban Development Committee Vahagn Vermishyan will be released from illegal arrest," Kochubaev wrote.
The Anti-Corruption Court of Appeal today granted the request to change the preventive measure. In May 2023, the court sentenced Vermishyan to imprisonment for a period of 8 years. An appeal against the arrest decision was submitted to the European Court.
Vermishyan is accused of abuse of power, illegal participation in business activities, as well as taking bribery on an especially large scale. Other persons have also been charged with bribery and criminal assistance. In total, eight people are facing criminal charges.
