The agent of Chelsea’s Argentine midfielder, Enzo Fernandez, has discussed the player’s future with the Blues in an interview with ESPN.
In light of recent speculation in the London press regarding Fernandez’s position at Chelsea, his agent has sought to clarify the situation, saying, “I don’t understand why these rumours have surfaced. Both Enzo and I have a clear understanding of this project, which was outlined to me on the day of the World Cup final.”
It seems the club’s executive board has a long-term strategy, with the agent revealing, “They were very clear that this was a project that required time, especially from a sporting point of view as they would be changing the team, taking on the best young players, one of them being Enzo. They were aware that it would take one to two or even three seasons for the team to begin challenging for important things.”
His remarks suggest a significant rebuilding programme at Chelsea, with a focus on nurturing young talent to compete at the highest level. He emphatically stated, “They told me that once the team was assembled, they would start competing for titles. I believe that Chelsea has a lot of quality, excellent players and the only thing missing is for it all to come together.”
The agent’s statements appear to dismiss any transfer rumours surrounding Fernandez, reinforcing his commitment to Chelsea’s long-term plan.
