To further promote science literacy and inclusivity, the Department of Education (DepEd) is holding a month-long virtual science film festival.
In partnership with Goethe-Institut Philippinen, DepED is holding the 2022 Science Film Festival virtually from Nov. 3 to Dec. 3 with the theme “Equal Opportunities in Science.”
This year’s event is the 13th edition of the festival. It aims to emphasize the commitment to raising awareness on the issue of diversity and inclusiveness in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) from underrepresented groups.
“Maximizing innovation and creativity in science and promoting equal opportunity will be emphasized in the virtual viewing of the 45 Science Edutainment films,” DepED said in a statement issued Thursday, Nov. 3.
During the festival period, DepED said that students from public and private secondary schools, specifically Regional Science High Schools (RSHSs), Legislated Science High Schools (LSHs), Science, Technology, and Engineering (STE)-implementing schools, and Special Science Elementary Schools (SSES), are invited to watch the films by registering online through bit.ly/SffPh22Reg or the Goethe Institut Philippinen website.
“All films are divided into different age groups and translated and subtitled into local languages to offer access without language barriers,” DepED explained.
Related to this, DepED also encouraged learners to vote for their favorite film to get a chance to win a gadget.
