ILOILO CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has announced that a new access road in Batan, Aklan has finally been opened and will benefit farmers in the town and the province.
“This is to provide quick, safe, and efficient travel to advance the town’s coconut products to the market,” said newly installed DPWH-Region 6 Director Nerie Bueno.
The P29-million project undertaken by the DPWH-Aklan District Engineering Office composed concreting of a 2.41-kilometer portland concrete cement pavement (PCCP) road as well as structural concreting of a drainage system.
Aside from supporting coconut farmers and the coconut processing industry in the town, the road also serves as an alternate route to Capiz via the municipality of Sapian.
The project is part of the Roads Leveraging Linkages of Industry and Trade (ROLL IT) Program, a convergence program of the DPWH and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
