Armenian parliamentary deputy from the ruling My Step faction Andranik Kocharian called on his fellow citizens to start a dialogue with Baku. This was announced on Tuesday, December 8, by the Novosti-Armenia portal.
“We must accept the surrender and move on, understand the level of responsibility and, ultimately, try to build a dialogue with the winning side, no matter how difficult it may be,” Kocharian said during government hour in parliament.
He noted that all countries that have gone through the “process of reconstruction after major wars” have passed this way.
According to Kocharian, the establishment of bilateral diplomatic ties with Azerbaijan “can change the picture of the future.” At the same time, one must not forget what happened and rely on an assessment of all economic and military risks, he added.
On November 9, the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a statement on the cessation of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh. Under the terms of the document, the territories occupied during the fighting, including the city of Shushi, as well as three regions, came under Baku’s control. A Russian peacekeeping contingent is deployed along the line of contact.
