Loudon Wainwright III -- I Had a Dream
It still feels like a dream that Trump will be president. I haven't been able to wrap my brain around it. I have to admit that I was exceptionally disappointed in the low key final press conference of President Obama this week. But then I sat back from my initial emotional response. Let's face it, there's a lot of emotion clouding rational thought nowadays. But while it would have made me feel a little better to see my president rant and rave as my friends and I have. But would it have changed anything? Nope, not really. Obama said at the very beginning of his first term that we had to be change we wanted to see. To that end, I'm seeing some encouraging developments. Sometimes, we need a clear and present danger to get us to give up our internecine disagreements and work together. One thing I'm very proud to be helping with is a newsletter Ctrl Alt Right Delete, written by my friend and activist Melissa Ryan, and a great way to start thinking about how to combat the Alt-Right. It's a great beginning to the conversation. There must be many, many more.
