Victoria's Secret model Leomie Anderson: Supermodel? I’m just a starstruck Londoner
Leomie Anderson may have been selected to star in one of the world’s biggest fashion shows - but the Victoria’s Secret Angel doesn’t consider herself a supermodel.
The 23-year-old from Tooting, who was scouted while waiting for a bus as a schoolgirl, appeared at the brand’s Paris show last week with Gigi and Bella Hadid. She said: "I’m not a supermodel yet and still feel very much the Londoner, especially when I’m in New York."
"I feel so proud to come from south London and always let people know where I’m from - so to be able to fly the flag as part of the biggest show on Earth is an amazing feeling."
Although she now regularly rubs shoulders with A-listers, she still gets starstruck. After Lady Gaga, who was performing at the Victoria’s Secret show, reached out to take her hand on the catwalk, Anderson posted a picture of the moment on Instagram, writing: "Even if this doesn’t make the show, it was the most epic thing ever so thank you Lady Gaga."
She said: "I have met a few celebrities so far in my career, but my favourite has to be Rihanna, as she is just as amazing in person as she seems in pictures, and she’s a very down-to-earth and inspiring woman."
Anderson, who started modelling at 14 and is represented by Premier Artists, has appeared on Good Morning Britain to raise awareness around sexting and the importance of consent.
Today, she is launching a collection of "anti-Trump and anti-misogyny" hoodies via her clothing line LAPP featuring slogans such as "This p***y grabs back", in reference to the US President-elect’s infamous remarks on women.
Despite her growing fame, she loves a simple night out with friends in the capital. She said: "One of the first stops back home after being in America for a long time is a cheeky Nando’s."
