The actions of untrained security agents at New York's JFK airport helped fuel unfounded panic that sent people streaming out of terminals on a busy Sunday evening in August, authorities said on Monday in announcing steps to prevent repeat episodes. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said in a statement they would implement a recommendation by investigators to require emergency training for all airport workers, including vendors. Hundreds of people streamed out of the airport on Aug. 14 after rumors spread via social media and word of mouth that there was a gunman in one or more terminals.
