The Black Devils, one of the Niger Delta militant pirate gangs have given the reasons why they attack expatriate companies such as Agip, Shell, Chevron and others and take hostages for huge ransoms.
The heavily armed militants in the interview granted to the Al Jazeera’s People and Power documentary crew claimed the expatriate companies come to exploit them without employing them or giving them their due.
The leader of the group also revealed that during the last year they have organised at least 15 attacks.
The documentary also shows the illegal refineries of the pirate gangs and explained how they stole crude oil from the big companies and the federal government.

Nigeria’s oil production dropped to 30-year lows at one point in 2016 as militant groups, comprising the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), blew up pipelines in protest at what they view to be an unfair distribution of the country’s oil wealth.
Oil sales make up around 70% of Nigerian government revenues, but Muhammadu Buhari has said he wants to diversify the country’s economy.
