Former Arsenal winger and Germany hat-trick hero Serge Gnabry has revealed that videos of Eden Hazard are inspiring his remarkable progress.
Gnabry, 21, departed Arsenal in the summer against Arsene Wenger’s wishes in a bid for regular first team football. His decision has been proven to be a wise one and the winger has weighed in with four goals and an assist in nine matches for Werder Bremen, helping his new side’s attempts to edge away from the Bundesliga drop zone.
With both the German national team and Arsenal Gnabry has been able to learn from the likes of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Thomas Muller but he said it is Belgium and Chelsea star Hazard who he wants to model his game on.
"Hazard is world class, he is amazing," Gnabry told Sport Bild.
"The way he protects the ball and his first touch is incredible.
"I am really impressed with the way he plays. I regularly watch Hazard videos on YouTube."
Gnabry’s fine form earned him a first call up to the German senior squad this month – something he thought was a “hoax” when he first received Joachim Low’s phone call – and he celebrated with the first hat-trick by a debutant in 40 years to steer the world champions to an 8-0 win over San Marino.
