A Cape Town man who was arrested for running an illegal licensing and police clearance operation, was remanded in custody.
|||Cape Town – A man who was arrested last Saturday for running an illegal licensing and police clearance operation, made his first appearance in a court in Cape Town on Tuesday.
Elton Abrahams, 33, appeared in the Bellville District Court, before magistrate Marietjie Geldenhuys, who remanded him to November 22.
The remand will enable investigators to check his background, in order to determine whether he has any previous convictions, pending criminal cases or outstanding warrants for his arrest.
The outcome of the remand investigation will enable the prosecuting authorities to decide whether to release him on bail on an agreed amount, or to oppose any bail application that he might wish to bring.
He faces charges of corruption, money laundering and racketeering.
