Mr Jude Idimogu, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Tuesday, November 15 has warned that his party might lose the Ondo state election to APC.
Idimogu said they could lose if the leaders of the PDP failed to unite before the governorship poll. Mr Idimogu who is lawmaker representing Oshodi-Isolo II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, said this while speaking to newsmen in Ikeja.
He was afraid of this because two factions of the PDP were embroiled in a legal battle over the party’s candidate in the forthcoming election.
November 26, 2016 is the fixed date for the Ondo governorship election, and a faction of the party led by Alhaji Ahmed Makarfi is in court to upturn the candidacy of Mr Jimoh Ibrahim in the poll.

This is because Jimoh Ibrahim is a member of the second faction led by Senator Ali-Modu Sheriff, and he has been recognized as the PDP candidate by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following a court order.
The faction led by Ali Modu Sheriff had earlier declared Jimoh winner of a primary election it conducted. The Makarfi faction had been aggrieved by the court order which displaced Mr Eyitayo Jegede, their own candidate.
Meanwhile the Makarfi faction is still trying to upturn the court decision as the election date draws ever closer. Mr Idimogu urged them to make peace saying that the court was not the best place to settle the matter and urged them to sheath their swords and unite in the interest of the party.
Idimogu feared that the party would lose at the poll, saying:
“Our party is not organised and we will pay dearly for this again in Ondo if we allow crises to linger on. We are the ones to solve our own problems.
“Our elders should bury the hatchet. Let them sit down together and agree on best solutions. Sincerely, I am not happy with the situation of things.

“It is sad that our party is still in this situation few days to the election. “If we lose Ondo State again, it will be bad for the party. We cannot continue like this and expect a radiant future for the party.”
The lawmaker concluded by saying: “Let our leaders help those who are relatively young in the party by putting things in order. There is no more time to delay putting our house in order.”
Meanwhile, INEC is under pressure to postpone the November 26 governorship election in Ondo state, as many stakeholders in the state are clamoring for a shift in the election.
