A threat by Niger Delta militants to attack three central mosques in the Niger Delta region if soldiers raid Tompolo’s residence again has been met with a warning of possible religious war by Nigerians on social media.
The threat by Militant group, the Niger Delta Peoples Democratic Front (NDPDF) to attack 3 central Mosques in the Niger Delta region has triggered uproar.
Militant group, the Niger Delta Peoples Democratic Front (NDPDF) had in a statement on Saturday, November 12, berated the federal government over the raid on Oporoza, the traditional headquarters of the Gbaramatu people and hometown of a popular militant, Chief Government Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo, on Saturday.

The leader NDPDF ‘General’ Playboy, vowed to chase away oil companies from the region should the federal government order another invasion of Tompolo’s community.
Playboy also cautioned that they (militants) would attack three central mosques in the region should soldiers raid Tompolo’s residence again.
But the threats by the militants has angered some Nigerians who blasted the group for dragging places of worship into their feud with the federal government.

The commentators also warned that an attack on any Mosque will deviate from the agitation by the militants and trigger a religious war in the country.

Meanwhile, the Niger Delta Avengers has blamed the continued military presence in the region for the continued bombing of oil and gas pipelines.
President Muhammadu Buhari’s meeting with Chief Edwin Clark and other leaders from the Niger Delta region was expected to end hostility in the region but the opposite has been the case.
In a statement signed by Brig.Gen Mudoch Agbinibowho is the spokesperson of the Avengers on Sunday,November 13, the group said it was not against any other group bombing pipelines in the region as they were all interested in the same thing.
