4 key promises APC made on jobs creation before being voted into power
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has been in administration for more than a year and many Nigerians are still expecting the party to fulfil its campaign promises.
The party which campaigned on the platform of a change agenda was considered a beacon of hope due to its clear and well-articulated manifesto that focused largely on nation-building and eradication of corruption.
Job-creation was one of the key promises made by the APC which was why Nigerians were quick to question vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo after he promised in October that 200,000 graduates will be provided jobs soon and there was no sign that the job opportunities were available.

The President Muhammadu Buhari administration has been plagued by economic recession blamed on the falling price of oil and the failure of the previous administration to save.
This has led to huge loss of jobs especially in the banking sector that has witnessed massive sack of workers while some companies have threatened to close-up.
The government in a bid to salvage the current wave of sack in different sectors set up an N-power programme that is expected to provide 500, 000 jobs.

1. Embark on vocational training, entrepreneurial and skills acquisition scheme for graduates along with the creation of Small Business Loan Guarantee Scheme to create at least 1 million new jobs every year, for the foreseeable future;
2. Inject extra N30bn to the Agricultural sector to create more agro-allied jobs by way of loans at nominal interest rates for capital investment on medium and commercial scale cash crops;

3. Formulate a robust industrialization policy and provide a conducive environment for a private sector led industrial base for the economy, promote entrepreneurship that would help usher in new industries, new jobs, new knowledge and utilization of information and communication technologies;
4. Guarantee that women are adequately represented in government appointments and provide greater opportunities in education, job creation and economic empowerment.
