EFCC pounces on ex-Enugu governor, PDP chairman for collecting N450m from Dieziani
– The EFCC confirmed it is investigating Sullivan Chime for money he collected from Diezani
– The fund was to push for the re-election of Goodluck Jonathan
– Several Enugu officials involved have been arrested but released
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed that the former governor of Enugu state, Sullivan Chime is under investigation for allegedly receiving N450 million from Diezani Alison-Madueke.
It was reported that Dieziani disbursed $115 million in the build-up to the 2015 presidential election to campaign for the re-election of Goodluck Jonathan.

Daily Post reports that it was alleged that the former Enugu governor was one of those who received money from the former minister of petroleum resources.
Mr. Johnson Babalola who is the head of the EFCC south east zone spoke in Enugu on Wednesday, October 19 where he said the current commissioner for water resources in the state, Chief Charles Egumgbe, who was served as chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign office has been arrested alongside the commissioner for tourism, Rita Mba, who was the secretary in connection to the disbursement of the $115m.

Chief Ikeje Asogwa who was the chairman of the PDP in Enugu at the time and is currently serving as chairman of the board of Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board was also arrested.
The EFCC boss said: “They were detained, they made statements and they were later released on bail.”
