Hugo Lloris admits Tottenham struggled against Bayer Leverkusen's high press in Champions League draw
Hugo Lloris has admitted Tottenham "struggled" to cope with Bayer Leverkusen's high press in tonight's 0-0 draw at the BayArena.
The Bundesliga side came flying out of the blocks, employing a style not dissimilar to the one Mauricio Pochettino has used to great effect during his reign at Spurs.
But the north Londoners regained their composure and should have gone into the break in front after Vincent Janssen was denied by the crossbar.
The tide turned again in the second half and Leverkusen were unfortunate not to find the winner that would have taken them to the top of Group E.
A point was enough to keep Spurs in second place and Lloris was satisfied with his team's performance: "We can be pleased with a point," he told BT Sport.
"I think we missed chances in the first half and at this level if you don't score it is difficult to win games. Then in the second half the game turned.
"Leverkusen pressed high and we struggled a bit. I think a draw is a good result for us."
Lloris produced several superb saves in the second half, including a point-black block that denied Javier Hernandez from close range.
The Mexican striker was convinced he had scored only to have his appeals waved after by the referee, with television replays proving Lloris had kept the effort out.
But the French goalkeeper was reluctant to put too much emphasis on his own performance, preferring to praise the under-strength defence in front of him for keeping a clean sheet.
"You need a bit of luck in that kind of action and this time I saved the goal," Lloris insisted.
"It was a key moment but it was not the only one. We did a job defensively together.
"We should have scored in the first half and then the game would have been much different."
