Liverpool on-loan player Taiwo Awoniyi has started life very well at his new Dutch Eredivisie club, NEC Nijimegen, scoring a brace in his team’s 5-0 bashing of FC Kleve.
Awoniyi who joined NEC Nijimegen on a season-long loan deal from Premier League club Liverpool scored in his unofficial debut in the friendly against Kleve.
NEC Nijimegen used the game to prepare for their next Saturday’s league fixture against champions PSV Eindhoven.
They will be hoping the 19 year old can replicate such form against the Dutch giants.
Reacting after the game Awoniyi insists he is always looking for ways to improve by demanding extra from his performances, 90min.com reports.
He said: “I am someone who gives everything for the team. That is what I think you can also see. I am never satisfied. Even after this game I am not. The fact is that I always demand more of myself than I showed.”
Awoniyi had a loan spell with FSV Frankfurt last season. He scored a solitary goal in 13 appearances for the Bundesliga II side.
The 19-year-old striker failed to make the bronze winning Dream Team final 18 man squad losing his spot to new Bologna Signing Sadiq Umar.
