Here are all the PlayStation games you can get for free in September

Every month, PlayStation offers a handful of free games through its premium subscription service called PlayStation Plus. For $49.99/year, you gain access to online multiplayer, exclusive sales on the PlayStation Store, and free games for PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4!

If you don't have PlayStation Plus yet, you might want to act now. Starting September 22, Sony will raise the price of PlayStation Plus for the first time, to $59.99/year. So you have a few weeks to get a great service at a slightly cheaper price.

Here are all the games you can get for free in September:

"Lords of the Fallen"

The most obvious source of inspiration for "Lords of the Fallen" is the famously difficult "Dark Souls" series, which delights in punishing its players for the smallest of mistakes.

Similarly, "Lords of the Fallen" pits players in challenging battles against a litany of demons and monsters, but it's a bit more forgiving than "Dark Souls."

If you've ever been curious about jumping into the world of fantasy RPGs, "Lords of the Fallen" is a great place to start.

"Journey"

Superlatives and hyperbole get thrown around a lot, but "Journey" is simply one of the most beautiful games ever made. You play an entirely silent protagonist exploring a vast desert and interacting with the various creatures and structures you come across.

Since the magic of "Journey" lies in experiencing it firsthand, describing how the game unfolds will only do a disservice to the experience of playing it for yourself. But there's no doubt that "Journey" is one of the best PlayStation games you can get your hands on.

And for the month of September, it's totally free.

"Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands"

"Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands" came and went rather quickly when it was released in 2010, so now's the perfect time to check it out if you missed it the first time around.

It features all the action and platforming that's characteristic of the "Prince of Persia" series, but now that it's several years old, it might feel a little long in the tooth for series newcomers.
