The war in Syria is entering its final phase with world powers jockeying for position ready to snatch up pieces of the Syrian pie. China, Russia and India are all ready to compete for the Syrian pie after supporting President Bashar al-Assad, while western powers, Turkey and the Arab monarchies are most likely be left out. Moscow has to compete with Beijing and New Delhi after doing all the heavy lifting in the Syrian war. Russia could coordinate efforts with regional powers to open-up a vast corridor of trade, linking northern Europe with Asia via Syria. Pravda reports: Syria no longer isolated Saturday’s visit of Indian Foreign Minister Mobasher Jawed Akbar to Damascus put emphasis on India’s support for the Assad government in the Syrian conflict. Interestingly, Chinese officials stated last week that China was going to double military cooperation with Bashar Assad. India preferred not to sit on its hands and sent its top official to Syria. Unlike China, the West sees India as a democracy.
