Senate President Bukola Saraki received the delegation of the Association of Club Owners of Nigeria in Abuja.
He made it clear that he was a member of the association three years ago, when he was active in football business in the country.

Saraki commended the club owners for their energetic efforts in making the domestic league comparable to their international counterparts which is encouraging fans return to stadiums.

The former Kwara state governor also emphasized that all arms of government must welcome those interested in using sports as a platform to provide socio-economic liberation for players and communities.

“There is no doubt that Nigerians love football, but we are yet to fully explore the economic potentials across the country,” he said.
Saraki also extended commendations to the Super Falcons stressing that being African Champions of female football is also a recognizable achievement for the country.
“We can’t talk of football without recognizing our women. Falcons are current African Champions. And can win more titles with right support,” he said.
Saraki is currently the Chairman of a Pro League Division outfit called Abubakar Bukola Saraki FC (ABS) who gained promotion to the Premier League in 2009/2010 season and got relegated two years later.
