The 2016 Champions League winners are believed to be scouting out Singh as a potential recruit for their B side, Real Madrid Castilla. Singh has not played professionally in South Africa but was mentored at Farouk Khan's Stars of Africa Academy in Johannesburg. The academy has been used by numerous players as a stepping stone to clubs both in Europe and in the Premier Soccer League; the likes of May Mahlangu, Tokelo Rantie and Tefu Mashimate are just some of a long list of players whom Khan has assisted.
The 18-year-old Singh is based in Sweden, where he plays for second-tier outfit GAIS, who are currently ninth on the standings.
He is in his second season with the club, and having been converted from a winger to a central striker this season, has been in scintillating form in front of goal, netting seven times in 15 starts.
This has alerted Real Madrid to him and Singh says the Spanish club have spoken to his agent, although the player adds that he will not let that distract him from his job in Sweden.
“They have not spoken to me personally, but they did talk with my agent,” Singh told the fotbollskanalen website.
“It's a big club, but I just want to focus on the present. I belong to GAIS and I just want to focus on playing here and helping the team. I'm not thinking about anything else.”
The South African youngster, who is a Barcelona fan, also received interest from Benfica a year ago but turned the offer down after finding out that the Portuguese club wanted him for their academy side.
Singh Still has one year remaining on his contract with the Goteborg.
