|||Johannesburg - At Bordeaux voting station, voters described their experience as a “walk in, walk out” breeze.
There weren't any queues as people either simply walked in alone or in pairs and the process proceeded with little to no problems.
“The process was smooth. I guess the reason why it's such a contested election is because it shows how the country has grown as a democracy. More people are taking part in the elections and more people are aware of the different issues affecting us,” 31 year-old Tumi Diseko (crt) said after voting this morning (wed).
An enterprising spirit was alive and well at the station too as a boerewors stand stood braaiing sausages with a coffee stand placed nearby.
Jennifer Lawler, 71, said that while there was no special queue for the elderly, the process was quick and efficient.
She added, “It's going to be very interesting to see the outcome of the elections.”
