Klay Thompson says his game won't take a step back with Kevin Durant as a teammate

With all the excitement of Kevin Durant joining the Golden State Warriors, there was one question that nobody really had an answer to: Whose production will have to suffer to accommodate Durant's?

Apparently, it won't be Klay Thompson's.

In an interview with Shams Charania of The Vertical, Thompson says that he's "not sacrificing [expletive]" with Durant as a teammate.

While that may sound like Thompson is being selfish, all he is really saying is that his rate of production won't be affected just because Durant is with the team.

Thompson went on to clarify that his game won't be sacrificed because he plays a different role than what Durant does on the court.

"I feel kind of disrespected that people keep using the term sacrifice to describe me and describe us," Thompson told The Vertical. "We all want to see each other do well. But I'm not sacrificing [expletive], because my game isn't changing. I'm still going to try to get buckets, hit shots, come off screens."

This was echoed by Durant.

"We want Klay to stay Klay," Durant told The Vertical. "We don't want him to change. The games dictate where the shots come from. I may shoot 12 shots one night; Klay may shoot eight or nine shots one night, and Steph may shoot 25 shots one night. And it could be a different flow another night."

Durant is going to want the ball in his hands and to take a lot of shots. But the Warriors are still going to need Thompson to play the role of scorer, the lethal assassin who just gets open and drains long bombs.
