Portia Doubleday, one of the stars of USA Network's "Mr. Robot," gave Business Insider a look at what it's like behind the scenes of the critically acclaimed hacker drama for its second season, which premieres Wednesday night.
"It’s so great being back on the 'Mr. Robot' set," Doubleday told Business Insider recently. "We get to live in New York for about four months and to get back into the swing of things, with this cast and crew. It’s like coming back to summer camp, but a really intense one."
Doubleday documented a day she had on the "Mr. Robot" set earlier this summer with some fun photos. And she provided her own colorful commentary.
"A lot of these photos represent my time on set, but also how specific and certain our creator Sam Esmail is about everything," she said. "I even joked that I had to show him these photos before sending them over."
Here's what it's like on the set of "Mr. Robot," complete with Doubleday's humorous captions:
Last season, Doubleday's Angela was trying to change the corporate world from the inside out. On the second season, she has been promoted to PR manager. But it's unclear whether she's under global conglomerate E Corp's spell or if she has a big-picture plan.
Esmail (right) is not only the creator of "Mr. Robot," he's also the writer and season two's sole director.
Overall, Sam Esmail is very particular about what every cast member looks like. Doubleday's character has to be sleek and professional, with nothing outlandish. So the hair and makeup team gave her a ponytail and minimal makeup.
