The Roots, The Wombats, and Fitz and The Tantrums — these are the tickets to buy this week

The Insider Picks team writes about stuff we think you'll like. Business Insider has affiliate partnerships, so we may get a share of the revenue from your purchase.

Getting tickets for the biggest concerts and events is a difficult task in 2016.

Gone are the days of buying a ticket at the door. With scalpers ready to jump on tickets as soon as they’re released, only to put the seats on sale minutes later for four times what they paid, in many cases the only way you can get tickets is if you’re ready to click "purchase" just as quickly as the scalpers are.

For this reason, we’ll be using this space to highlight buzzworthy shows with tickets you should try to snag before the scalpers do.

The Roots Picnic

Ticketmaster

The protective Philadelphian in me is a little bitter that The Roots are taking their picnic to another city, but I would be remiss not to include it here as a must-buy ticket. Any lineup that includes D’Angelo, Wu-Tang Clan, David Byrne, and John Mayer is tough to ignore. Also, if you attend, be sure to checkout Trombone Shorty for the high-key most fun set of the weekend.

Heart

I like to highlight at least one classic rock band in this space every week, because I think it’s rad that we can still see some of the all-time greats in person while they’re performing. Heart has so many hits, and while sometimes it’s scary going to see legends perform, because they might not be able to hit the notes, (spoiler alert) Ann and Nancy Wilson can still put on a crazy show.

The Wallflowers

It’s tough to imagine trying to escape the musical shadow of your father when his name is Bob Dylan, but Jakob Dylan has made a pretty nice space for himself and his band. The Wallflowers are a part of what I consider to be the best non-tribute performance in award show history: “One Headlight” at the 1997 MTV Video Music Awards. The band is joined onstage by Bruce Springsteen, and there are very few things more appealing to me than The Boss singing songs about running away on a motorcycle. If you see them on tour, it’s doubtful Bruce will be there, but chances are it will still be a solid set.
