Scores of PDP members blown off by the wind of change in Ondo
Scores of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members in Okitipupa local government area of Ondo state, have been blown off by the wind of change.
This follows reports on This Day that the PDP members dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC), alleging that the current administration had made life unbearable for them.
The defectors led by a chieftain, Dare Agbe, made their position known at a meeting with Chief Olusola Oke, a governorship aspirant of the APC.
According to the defector, they moved to the APC because of good things that Chief Oke had done in Okitipupa local government, in the South Senatorial District.

On hand to receive the defectors, Chief Wole Akeremale, the chairman of the APC in Okitipupa local government, said: “The doors of APC are wide open to receive new members and the party would not discriminate against any member.
“We however advise new members to respect constituted authorities.”
Addressing the delegates, Oke said the APC had not and would not zone the gubernatorial ticket of the party to any senatorial district in the state.
According to him, the party’s candidate for the election would emerge through the party primaries, adding that the APC would not also impose any of the candidates on the electorate.
Oke, who said the high number of quality aspirants jostling for the APC ticket was as a result of the people’s quest to replace the PDP government in the state and demonstration of internal democracy in APC, said “the choice of the right candidate who can win election for the party lies with the delegates”.
He said: “Already, my ongoing tour of councils has been witnessing defections of people from other political parties, especially PDP, to APC. If I get the APC ticket today, you can imagine what will happen. The PDP will collapse finally into this party.
“I am loved and accepted by the people across length and breadth of the state and across party lines. My emergence will deliver the state to APC.
“And as governor, I will restore the prosperity of the state which the present administration had traded away with its incompetence and lack of ideas and people-oriented policies and projects. I will be committed to the economic wellbeing of the state and its people.”
