LGBT Bathroom Freakout Just Another Flag Burning Distraction
Back in 1989, the economy (in places where the media would actually notice) was not good. It's almost impossible to believe, but New York City was facing huge job losses and other economic woes. In 1989, the median housing price IN MANHATTAN dropped by over 25%.

Because so many people are burning flags it's a national fire hazard? No.
Because burning flags is contributing to air pollution in our nation's cities? No.
Because imaginary hippies and radicals burning flags in the dreams of just the right voters gets them to the polls? Ding we have a winner.
Yes, the Supreme Court had ruled in Johnson v. Texas that duh burning a flag on your own property and not creating a public safety issue was actually political speech and protected by the First Amendment.
