Truck driver held for R3.8m dagga stash
Police arrested the driver of a cargo truck after they found 774 kilograms of dagga in a hidden compartment attached to the vehicle’s undercarriage.
|||Cape Town - A man was arrested on Monday after police found bags of dagga worth R3.8 million hidden in a secret compartment and in the cargo hold of a large truck.
Cape Town Cluster Crime Prevention police pulled over the 57-year-old driver of the truck on the N1 inbound near the Huguenot Tunnel at 1.45pm on Monday.
The police found dagga in the cargo hold and in a hidden compartment attached to the transport truck’s undercarriage. Police seized a total of 774kg spread among 25 bags.
The suspect will appear in the Paarl Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday on charges of dealing in drugs.
