In-form 18-year-old striker Marcus Rashford made it two for the home side in the 75th minute before Ashley Young completed the rout, three minutes from time.
The unrelenting visitors later got a consolation after their effort was rewarded through a Chris Smalling own goal. It ended Manchester United 3 – 1 AFC Bournemouth.
As a result, city rivals Manchester City have secured the fourth position and Louis van Gaal’s side will only get a chance to feature in Europe next season in the Europa League.
