19 parents of Chibok schoolgirls will never see their daughters

–  Nineteen of the more than 200 parents of the missing Chibok girls have died

– The distressing news were announced during a ceremony attended by Aisha Buhari

– First Lady presented N55 million cheque to parents of the Chibok schoolgirls and Buni Yadi boys killed by Boko Haram

Since the mass abduction of the schoolgirls by Boko Haram members in Chibok, Borno state, more than two years ago, 19 parents will never see their daughters again.

The news were made public Mr Yakubu Nkeki, the chairman of Abducted Chibok Girls Parents, during an event visited by Aisha Buhari.

Mrs Buhari donated a cheque of N30 million to parents of the Chibok girls and N25 million cheque to parents of the Buni Yadi boys.

Mr Nkeki called on the government to put in extra effort into locating the girls and bringing them back home as soon as possible.

He, however, expressed his gratitude on behalf of locals for maintaining peace and order in the region earlier oppressed by Islamic Boko Haram sect.

He said: “We, the parents of the girls are not happy about the situation as over two years now we didn’t hear anything about their whereabouts. We still believe that the girls are alive.

Now, we can sleep in our houses peacefully without any attack by the insurgents in the Chibok area. This is a clear indication that insurgency will soon come to an end.”

First Lady made the donation in fulfilment of her promise while launching her book  titrled “Essentials of Beauty Therapy’’ last month.

She said: “The day I launched my book, I promised that the proceed will be used to empower the parents of missing chibok girls and
the Buni Yadi boys. 

And I am here today to present a cheque of N30 million to empower the parents of the girls and also a cheque of N25 million to empower the parents of the murdered Bunu Yadi boys.”

The rest of the proceeds would be used to treat  malnourished children of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
