Over the weekend, students of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) gathered to mark their annual students’ week celebration.

The week-long event climaxed with the beauty pageant which produced Pretty Oyebola and Dayo Ajiferuke as Miss and Mr NIJ respectively.

Speaking with our correspondent after the event, the chairman, Students Representative Council (SRC) of the Institute, Afefolarin Badejo, said: “This year’s student’s week is indeed like never before with the lines of top artistes that performed and other activities.

“After five days of fun packed celebration by the students, the students experienced their dinner which they described to be ‘like never before.”

Speaking further on the idea behind the event, Folarin informed that, “NIJ students’ week is all about bringing students together for several social activities and getting to know each other’s social lives better. We appreciate everyone who was present at this event, and specially thank everyone for making this year’s students’ week a great success and indeed, it was like never before.”

In the same vein, the deputy provost of the institute, Jide Johnson attested that the students’ week dinner which took place on the last day of the week was indeed the best dinner the school has ever experienced.

The students after the event, honoured the school’s gardener, Mr Rafel, who has been working with the school for over 10 years, as the most hardworking staff of the year.
