AmazonThe latest Roku Streaming Stick is the media streamer we’d recommend to most people, and today Amazon has it down to $40. That’s $10 off its usual going rate, and the first real deal we’ve seen for the device on the site.
Even at $50, the new Roku is good value. You can head on over to our review from last month for the full rundown, but here’s the gist of things: The updated Streaming Stick is nearly as fast as streamers twice as expensive; it supports as many apps as you’ll find on a streamer; and its interface is still as straightforward and unobtrusive as they come. It now lets you listen to your shows privately through Roku’s companion app, too.
There are still a few reasons to hold off — go with the Roku 2 if you need an Ethernet jack, the Roku 4 if you need 4K support, or one of Amazon’s streamers if you tend to mess around with the software on these things — but, to us, Roku still makes the most effortless streamer UI for most people, and there isn’t another dongle that performs this well for the money. This discount only furthers that.
