Oshiomhole’s public romance angers late wife’s family

Sources close to family of the late wife of Adams Oshiomhole, Edo State governor, Clara Oshiomhole in Ewohimi, Esan South East, have disclosed to NAIJ.com that some elites members of the family are enraged with the manner the governor is currently flaunting his new wife around the world, an attention they alleged their daughter did not enjoy while she served as first lady of the state.

The former Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) president, in May last year married a new wife Miss Iara Fortes, now Mrs. Iara Oshiomhole, a Cape Verdean who is a lawyer by profession and top model in her country after about five years of the death of his first wife, Clara, following a protracted battle with cancer.

According to sources who spoke with NAIJ.com, while members of late Clara’s family are less concerned that the governor has found another soul mate after the demise of his first wife, they, however, are not comfortable with the manner the governor seems to have been ‘possessed’ by his new love.
“We have been watching Oshiomhole since he got married to his new wife. Some members of his late wife’s family are not happy with the current public behaviour of the governor as if he is in his 30s. He takes his new wife to everywhere including the Governors’ Forum when the wives of other governors are either at home or doing their own business.

“The wife’s family and his own children are actually saddened with his behaviour. You know it was not all the children that attended the wedding ceremony because they did not, and still do not understand the cravings driving their father. Nigerians should help us beg the governor to moderate his affluence of romance in honour of Clara who contributed in no small way to where he is today.
How many official and non-official meetings did Oshiomhole take Clara to when she was alive? If the truth be told, the current public behaviour of Oshiomhole with his new wife is unbecoming of a sitting governor”, fumed, one of the sources.

But Peter Okhiria, chief press secretary to Governor Oshiomhole debunked the claim as ‘rumour’ and ‘speculation ‘when he was contacted by NAIJ.com for comments.
“Governor Oshiomhole’s relationship with his late wife’s family is very wonderful; from the royal father to everyone in the family. They are all supporters of the governor. What you are saying can’t be true. It is truly laughable”, he said.
