I've worn jeans almost every day for at least 10 years, save the couple I spent in a more formal office setting. Because of this, I've cycled through dozens of different brands, fits, and washes looking for the pair that meant I'd no longer have to experiment, and I finally think I found them.
We've covered Mott & Bow at Insider Picks before, so it's no a surprise that they'd be behind the best pair yet. I'm talking about their Skinny collection. I think a lot of guys get put off by the term "skinny," but all that really means is that they fit closely through the calf, which is a great look on most guys, and especially helps shorter guys look taller and leaner. I have pretty big legs and wasn't put off by the fit in the thighs here.
I'm not alone in thinking this, the folks over at Kempt agree. Hadley Tomicki said it best, "Just really comfortable, soft, and superlight, with a little horizontal stretch to them. Almost like not wearing jeans while you’re wearing jeans." The only drawback to these jeans is that Mott & Bow's skinny fit stops at a 34" waist. I'm typically about a 34" or 35" in most other brands; so if you're around there, these should work fine. If they roll out bigger sizes, I'll be sure to update this article.
The price of Mott & Bow jeans does run a little higher than mainstream brands like Levi's, but honestly, I think the extra attention paid to the materials and fit is worth it. They even have Dynamic Stretch technology in this pair (though it is an extra $20 for that). We tried those jeans last month and I can't say enough about how comfortable they were. I especially think they're perfect for anyone who travels somewhat frequently. I wore them on a 6-hour flight and they were just as comfortable as sweatpants.
