Falana to sue Fulani herdsmen in ICC, ECOWAS courts
– Femi Falana (SAN) is to file a case of genocide and ethnic cleansing against Fulani herdsmen
– A senior advocate urged the government to take immediate measures to suppress the violent herdsmen
Following Fulani herdsmen deadly raids across the country a Nigerian lawyer and human rights activist Chief Femi Falana is to file a case of genocide and ethnic cleansing against the herders at two international courts.
He plans to implement his plans of prosecution at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in Hague and the ECOWAS Court on Monday, April 25.

He also urged the federal government to send more security agencies to the affected areas that will protect the lives of innocent Nigerians and take drastic action against the existing situation until it develops into another nationwide war that could be avoided.
Discussing the matter with the leaders of the Jukun Development Association of Nigeria, who brought a 1000 page document providing the names of the deceased, detailed description of the attacks and damage done in the last four years in Jukunland for submission.
Respoding to the request Mr Falana said: “It is very clear by the pictorial and other evidence contained in this evidence that the people of the north central Nigeria are going through terrible things daily in the hands of these herdsmen. Lives and properties are no longer safe from these people who killed and maim, and rape women at will just because they wanted their cattles to graze on other people’s farmlands.”

In his turn the president of the Jukun Development Association of Nigeria Mr Benjamin Bako expressed his discontent over president Muhammudu Buhari disregard for the obvious Fulani crisis and mass media hush on the deteriorating development in southern Taraba.
