Nigerians are a very religious set of people and they can keep you entertained at all times with the things they say and their actions.

The phrases and words used by most Nigerian Christians can sometimes leave you speechless and annoyed.

Most of these phrases used by Nigerian Christians are far off from their real meaning and unless you’ve lived among them, you might not understand what they are saying.

These phrases have become the norm that even non-Christians have unconsciously started saying them too.

Below is list of common things Nigerian Christians say and what they mean.

1. I am strong: Someone is sick and doesn’t want to admit it because he or she wants to speak faith.

It’s obvious that someone is sick and you ask, ‘what’s wrong with you’ and the person replies, ‘I’m strong.’

2. It is well: It’s an expression to indicate empathy and concern for people in any kind of difficult situation. Any tragedy ‘is well’ with Nigerian Christians.

Someone dies and Nigerian Christians say ‘it is well.

3. I am rich: This is another example of speaking faith-filled words. You know there’s power in words so a poor man would keep confessing he is rich and believe it will come to pass.

Faith without work is dead.

4. It’s not my portion: They are simply rejecting something bad as they believe God hasn’t has no evil of any kind in store for them.

Whose portion is it?

5. Bless you: It’s a sort of greeting or salutation. Someone sees you and instead of saying hello or good morning, the person says ‘Bless you.’ The annoying part is when they expect you to say bless you back and get angry if you don’t.

6. I’m from Zion: This can be a bit annoying when you want to know where a person is from and they tell you I am from Zion. You have a state of origin and it obviously isn’t Zion.
