When Shalee Ellis's partner, Mallory, made the decision to come out as trans earlier this year, the couple knew the decision would not be an issue for their family — they would go through this transition together.

Shalee and Mallory, who currently live with their two children in Pennsylvania, have been married for three years.
"This held no bearing on the love that we have for each other," Shalee told BuzzFeed News of Mallory's coming out. According to Shalee, Mallory had been suppressing her feelings of femininity for many years.
