Cameron Morajane has been appointed to head South Africa’s independent dispute resolution agency, the CCMA.
|||Cape Town – South Africa’s independent dispute resolution agency, the CCMA, has a new director in Cameron Morajane.
Chairman of the governing body of the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA), Daniel Dube announced Morajane’s appointment, effective from April 1.
Morajane was appointed as a commissioner at the CCMA in 2012 and was later appointed to national senior commissioner for legal services.
Prior to joining the CCMA he worked for the National Education, Health and Allied Workers Union (NEHAWU), and had previously also been in a private practice.
“It is this unique blend of experience and expertise gained from practising in the private sector and serving the trade union movement, which was further honed in the hearing rooms of the CCMA as a commissioner that Mr Morajane will bring to the directorship of the CCMA,” the CCMA said in a statement.
“We are confident that under his leadership the CCMA is well positioned to take up the challenges of the future, will strengthen service delivery and continue to make a significant difference in the labour market.”
Morajane’s appointment comes after Nerine Kahn stepped down from her position, which she held for 10 years, in December.
