|||Johannesburg – A helicopter pilot had a “lucky escape” when a helicopter crashed at noon on Friday at Lanseria Airport in Johannesburg.
According to the airport’s spokeswoman, Claudette Vianello, no fatalities or injuries were reported.
“Today at about 12.20 pm, a helicopter crashed at one of our airstrips. Fortunately there were no fatalities or injuries that resulted from the accident. It was a lucky escape indeed,” she said.
Vianello said she could not name the company that owned the helicopter, but conceded that it was attached to Lanseria Airport. She added that the cause of the accident would be investigated.
On Monday, a pilot and a trainee were killed when their light aircraft crashed and caught alight 10km away at Mountain View, after taking off from Lanseria Airport.
