Boma Iyaye, the commissioner for sports in Rivers state has pledged the sum of N1million to players and coaches of Rivers United football club, should they win Niger Tornadoes in week six of the Nigeria Professional Football League.
This was contained in a statement by Sammy Wejinya, the media officer of Rivers United, in Port Harcourt.
Iyaye’s statement also revealed that the team would receive N250, 000 for a draw in the game.

According to him, the financial incentive to the team was to spur the players and technical crew to win.
“The people of Rivers love Rivers United and we want the club to win in all competitions this season.
“We are yearning for the first away victory in the NPFL, which we believe will be the first of many to come,” he said.
Iyaye added that sponsors of the club had paid all winning bonuses to the players.
Rivers United currently occupy the fifth position on the log with nine points from five games. The team has recorded three wins and two defeats so far in this league campaign.
